Cobble Hills Farm Sanctuary (CHFS) will adopt hens to free-run or free-range homes ONLY. Under no circumstances will hens be given to anyone with the intention of keeping them caged or for slaughter. Preference will be given to homes that will allow hens to roam freely. However, we will adopt our hens to homes that can provide a suitable outdoor pen with enough room for them to run, stretch their legs, and scratch, etc.
As an adoptee, you must be able to fulfill all of the following requirements:
•
Provided hens with food and clean water daily.
•
Allow hens to have access to a coop or similar shelter with a min. 5 sq. ft/hen and enough perches and nests to accommodate all hens.
•
Provide full names and addresses and contact details in order to keep you informed with regards to an outbreak of illness, etc.
•
Be comfortable with a visit from a CHFS representative following adoption, to be sure adoption terms are being fulfilled.
•
Provide necessary veterinary care as required.
•
Provide humane euthanasia at the end of the hen’s natural life
or for a critically ill hen (not because they stopped laying eggs).
•
In the event you are no longer able to care for your hens, they MUST be returned to Cobble Hills Farm Sanctuary, if you know someone who would be willing to take your hens, they must make application with CHFS for approval.
These hens deserve peaceful lives after the stresses they have endured and the right homes for these birds will no doubt be respectful of this.
If you would like to adopt a hen please fill in an adoption form and send to us and we will contact you.
